Understanding Jinying Root
Also Known As: Jinyingqiong, Tuodudan.
Taste and Nature: Sour and astringent, neutral.
Channels Entered: Kidney and large intestine.
Medicinal Parts: The root or root bark of the Jinying plant (a Rose family species).
Morphological Features: The root is about 1 cm thick, with a diameter of 1-3.5 cm. Its surface is dark brownish-red to reddish-brown, characterized by fine vertical streaks. The cork layer can be peeled off in flakes. The cross-section is brown with pronounced radial patterns. It's solid and hard to break, has no distinctive scent, and tastes slightly sweet. 
How to Use Jinying Root
Internal Use: Broth, 15-60 grams.
External Use: Crush and apply or decoction for washing.
Preparation: Can be harvested throughout the year. Obtain the root and remove the young roots.

Jinying Root Combinations
1. To treat nocturnal emission: 60 grams of Jinying root with 9 grams of Wu Wei Zi, boiled with pork.
2. To treat children's enuresis: 15-30 grams of Jinying root with an egg, boiled together.
3. To treat diarrhea: 30 grams of Jinying root, boiled and taken as a broth.
4. To treat women's hemorrhages: 60-90 grams of Jinying root with 150 grams of lean pork, simmer and consume both broth and meat.
5. To treat uterine prolapse: 120 grams Jinying root, boiled for 4-5 hours, mix with rice wine before sleep.
6. To treat stomach pain: 120 grams of second layer bark of Jinying root, boil as tea.
7. For back and joint pain due to rheumatism: 30 grams of Jinying root boiled with pork marrow.
8. For children's rectal prolapse: 30-60 grams of Jinying root decoction, consumed thrice daily.
9. For burns: Clean Jinying root, remove outer rough skin, mix with glutinous rice, crush, boil, and apply the cooled decoction with a feather.
