Nan Zhu Zi is a small, slightly flattened spherical fruit, measuring about 4-6mm in diameter. Its surface ranges from dark red or reddish-brown to blackish-brown, with irregular wrinkles or a smoother texture. The persistent calyx forms a bell-shaped structure covering more than two-thirds of the fruit, with a central point marking the flower stalk's base. Inside, the fruit contains multiple tiny, pale yellow triangular seeds approximately 1mm long. It has a firm texture, a faint aroma, and a taste that is sour with a hint of sweetness.

How to Use Nan Zhu Zi

Internal Use: Typically consumed as a decoction, with a recommended dosage of 9-15g. It can also be made into pills for easier consumption.

Preparation: Harvest the fruit when it ripens between August and September, then dry it under the sun. Store it in a dry place to preserve its quality.
