White Maohua
Also Known As: Ying Flower, Mao Helmet Flower, Mao Needle Flower.
Taste and Nature: Sweet, warm, non-toxic.
Part Used for Medicine: Flower spikes of the grass species White Mao.
Physical Characteristics: The dried flower spikes are cylindrical, measuring 5-20 cm. They are gray-white, lightweight, and soft, similar to cotton. The small spikes are yellow-brown and covered in long filamentous hairs. Best quality spikes are dry, white, leafless, and have short stems.

Usage and Dosage of White Maohua
Internally: Decoction, 3-5 qian.
Externally: Apply as a poultice or insert into the nostrils.
Preparation: Harvest flower spikes with stems before blooming (April-May) and dry in the sun.
