Sanqi Hemostatic Soup
Ingredient Insights: Sanqi is used for stopping bleeding and resolving bruising. Bai Ji helps stop bleeding and soothes the lungs. Mao Gen and Ce Bai Tan both possess anti-hemorrhagic properties. Sheng Di cools the blood and stops bleeding. Chuan Bei, Bai He, Tian Dong, Jie Geng, and Yuan Sen help sooth the lungs and suppress coughing. Jie Geng also aids in the upward conveyance of medicine, with a suggested dose of 15 grams to avoid excessive lifting which may counteract antiseptic effects. Adjust accordingly. Ejiao, Dang Gui, and Bai Shao nurture and enrich the blood and essence, while Gan Cao harmonizes the other ingredients. Hemorrhagic coughing is often due to excessive heat causing blood to flow erratically. Severe coughing with reverse breath requires Da Huang to clear heat and guide blood downward with caution in dosage. Once bleeding subsides, continue anti-tuberculosis treatment to prevent relapse.
