Jiajian Fumai Decoction: Traditional Chinese Medicine for Post-Illness Recovery
Jiajian Fumai Decoction is a time-tested formula in Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) designed to nourish yin, promote blood circulation, and restore balance after prolonged illness. This herbal remedy is especially suitable for those experiencing symptoms such as persistent low-grade fever, a parched mouth, fatigue, and warm sensations in their palms and soles.
Ingredients & Preparation
- Honey-fried licorice root (18g)
- Dried rehmannia root (18g)
- Fresh white peony root (18g)
- Dwarf lilyturf root (15g)
- Donkey-hide gelatin (9g)
- Hemp seed (9g)
Preparation: Boil all ingredients in eight cups of water until three cups remain. Divide into three servings and consume throughout the day.
Adjustments for Severe Symptoms
For more severe symptoms, the dosage can be adjusted as follows:
- Increase licorice root to 30g
- Increase rehmannia root and peony root to 24g each
- Increase lilyturf root to 21g
Consume this adjusted dosage three times during the day and once at night for optimal effect.
Benefits & Applications
Function: This formula replenishes yin, nourishes the blood, promotes bodily fluids, and alleviates dryness.
Applications: It is most commonly used during the recovery phase of febrile diseases, where residual heat and dryness have depleted the body's yin. Key symptoms include flushed face, dry mouth and tongue, weak yet large pulse, and intense warmth in the palms and soles compared to the back of the hands and feet.
Safety & Precautions
While Jiajian Fumai Decoction is generally safe when used as directed, it is important to consult a qualified TCM practitioner before use, especially if you are pregnant, breastfeeding, or taking other medications.
